The Liverpool School of Architecture – Identity in the Architectural World
In December 2022, our founder Kudzai Matsvai was part of a panel discussion that was hosted at the Liverpool School of Architecture (LSA) by Chelsea Humado, who at that time was the president of The BLAC Collective. The BLAC Collective is a student-led Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) group founded by Kudzai Matsvai at LSA. The aim of the group is to provide a platform for Black students to have a voice at LSA and it was a direct response to the BLM activism of 2020 following the murder of George Floyd. On the panel were Sellasie Humado and Ilze W. who are both practicing architects, and Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP who joined the discussion virtually. The conversation was an incredibly healing space to discuss the traumas, successes, highs, and lows of Black people moving through the architectural profession.
